Alex invited me to photograph her September 10th, 2026 jazz concert at Boise State's Hemingway Center. I saw several other musicians in the audience including Sean and Kyle Luster from Red Light Challenge who I've photographed informally several times. There were a lot of couples there, and people of all ages.

I'd never been to this venue before but I was happy to see that there was plenty of space to move about. When I photograph Alex I look for a mystical, reflective, timeless kind of shot. Perhaps an image that could be printed on an album or CD cover.

I'm a fan of the 70-200mm and the 50mm prime for concerts. The only time I can see using a 24-70mm is if I'm in the pit in front of the stage. The action is fast and furious in that circumstance, and there's no time or space to change lenses, so you have to go in with a concert lens. This venue was nice because there was so much room to move around in, and I had much more time to look for good opportunities and angles. Anyway, here's a few of the images I got.
